Arizona Trail (Blue Ridge segment)

Sunday’s hike began at the General Springs Trailhead in the Mogollon Rim district of the Coconino National Forest. It’s a very scenic 3 hr drive from Phoenix thru Payson and the small towns of Pine and Strawberry. Leaving 100 degree weather behind in Phoenix, we arrived upon cooler temps (I needed a jacket!) at the trailhead about 11am–by the time we were done hiking, it was pleasantly warm in the low-80s 
The trail is fairly easy with minimal elevation gain and passes thru lush meadows and forests. A small creek runs along parts of the trail, giving Fido a chance to jump in and take a swim [ View more photos of the Arizona Trail / Fred Haught Trail ] Hiking Trails: |
